Preludes takes place on a jumble of a set, packed with pianos and desks, a kitchen nook in the corner. It’s just as packed with anachronisms. It takes place in the head of Rachmaninoff when he was deeply distraught.
The toast of the Moscow music scene at age 19, he finds his first symphony savaged by critics just five years later. As he struggles with writer's block, he consults hypnotherapist Nikolai Dahl. Their sessions drive the show.
